Aquion Inc.

Water treatment organization Aquion has only been known by that name since 2011, but its roots in Elk Grove Village go deep.

The core of the company is RainSoft, a residential water softener company founded by an engineer named John Grayson in 1953. RainSoft grew from a single location in Bensenville to an international organization with over 150 independent dealerships in the U.S. and 20 other countries, acquiring several additional companies along the way. After change in ownership in 2011, the newly-named Aquion Inc. presides over its family of water and air treatment solutions from the same building that has acted as RainSoft's corporate location since 1986, its third Elk Grove Village location since 1963.

The 160,000-square-foot, ISO 9001-2008 certified facility at 2080 Lunt Avenue and its 70 employees handle sales, marketing, and manufacturing operations for Aquion's hundreds of dealers and distributors nationwide and overseas. Besides RainSoft, Aquion's other operating divisions include ProSystems, a private-label group of residential and commercial water treatment systems for independent dealers and plumbing contractors; Clearwater Tech, a manufacturer of ozone air and water purification generators headquartered in San Luis Obispo, California; and Erie Water Treatment Controls, a manufacturer of water treatment component parts, valves and fully assembled systems headquartered in Olen, Belgium.

"Aquion is known for its stance on customer education," says Steve Swiderski, Aquion's Vice President of Operations. "We try to provide the appropriate education and equipment for each individual customer. We also provide some of the best product warranties in the industry."

"Another thing that makes Aquion unique," says Cal Stuart, CEO of Aquion, "is that we're an American manufacturer with one-third of our products being exported overseas to various parts of the world, even China. We believe in local sourcing and make great efforts to obtain our components from U.S.-based manufacturers."
